Pullman Camping Coaches and Hilton Cottage
Looking for a unique railway carriage or railway station cottage holiday? Why not extend your visit to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway with a self-catering holiday? We have three railway-inspired properties located on the coast within two UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Lake District National Park and Frontiers of the Roman Empire.
'Maid of Kent ' and 'Elmira' are Pullman Camping Coaches that have been lovingly brought back to life, with their fascinating history now on display for all to enjoy. As you step on board, transport yourself back in time to a bygone era. The carriages’ original features have been uncovered and sympathetically restored from the ‘Pullman Car No.137’ plaque in the lounge to the beautiful marquetry that has been delicately repaired and now adorns the walls throughout the carriage. Both carriages offer elegance, comfort, and a sense of nostalgia. You do not need to be a train enthusiast to appreciate the splendour and importance of this special self-catering accommodation.
Formerly the railway manager’s cottage, Hilton Cottage is located on platform one next to the carriage and wagon works. Benefitting from an extensive renovation, the cottage now offers modernised self-catering accommodation, perfect for short breaks or longer stays. Given its location overlooking a steam railway line, this single-storey, two-bedroom heritage-themed hideaway will be a hit with railway enthusiasts.
